We often seek to avoid pain and maximize goodness, however in this process, we lose sight of the truth that pain can hold a mystery of transformation. When we move towards our pain and become curious about its depth, we too tend to become deeper and more whole people.
Do you desire to understand who you are and how you’ve become that person?
Are you longing for greater wholeness?
So often our anxiety and depressive symptoms, and our relational challenges and unwanted behaviors reveal there may be something going on in our life. In a safe and validating environment, we could begin to explore these questions and help you find relief to your distress.

About the work
A fundamental belief that shapes my work with patients is that humans long to be seen and known. Safe and meaningful relationships enable people to grow and change. This relates to the therapeutic space. When you experience being understood, you will likely feel more willing to explore past and present challenges in your life, increasing understanding about them and how they have impacted you.
As a relationally psychodynamic psychologist, I regard the relationship that you and I will build, as the foundation of our work. As we build our therapeutic relationship and address what brought you into therapy, we will seek to answer the question, where is this coming from? And identify how do we find relief for you?
An aspect of being relationally focused clinician will include sharing my own thoughts and emotions with you, as it relates to our conversations.
And through a relational process, my hope is, you would begin to have an experience of feeling known by another and learn to know yourself in greater ways.
How do we get there
Within this framework, transformation will occur through the active and courageous undertaking of experiencing your emotions. This is often done through processing aspects of your life, past and present. Together, with curiosity and compassion, we will begin to explore how your relationships and experiences have shaped your view of yourself and how you relate to others. Often in this process, it leads to a greater understanding into how fear, shame, hurt, and longing are present and impacting your life. And each of these emotions and others that we will uncover will become invitations for deeper exploration that can produce greater insight and relief from your suffering. This journey may reveal unhelpful patterns within your life. And likely, these patterns may surface within our therapeutic relationship, which will provide us the opportunity to understand them together.
Through our work, you will find new ways to understand your patterns and unique experiences, and the how to identify new ways of relating with yourself and others. This will result in a reduction of distress and intensity of emotions.
If you’re finding yourself wondering, how will this help me? It might be helpful to understand what is happening in the brain. From a neuroscience perspective, your symptoms and unwanted behaviors begin to find relief, through processing your thoughts and emotions, as described above. This creates movement in your brain, as you find language and understanding for things you previously had not processed. Put simply, these stuck emotions and thoughts move from one region in your brain into another, which allows you to relate to them differently. This process occurs through integrating your mind, emotions, and body, which is an important part of your healing. Lastly, through this process, you will begin to understand yourself differently, find new meaning, and learn how to relate to others more effectively.
As you read about the process of therapy we might engage in, may you find hope that healing and change are possible for you.
I recognize that no person longs to feel sorrow and know suffering. No one wants to experience the weight of depression, anxiety, or frustration of unwanted behaviors or unhealthy ways of relating to others. I find the work of joining another in their experiences of pain as sacred and a great privilege. It would be an honor to embark with you on your courageous journey to greater healing.
