Experience:
My clinical experience has ranged across various settings, including community counseling centers, a behavioral health hospital, and university counseling centers. I have worked with individuals with diverse presenting concerns, from various backgrounds, identities, ages, and cultures. Though I more recently work with adults, I have been trained in play therapy and my dissertation research was with adolescents. Specifically, my research focused on the unique experiences of third culture kids.
I am particularly passionate about helping individuals understand how their past experiences has impacted their sense of self, namely their identity development and relationships with others. Unaddressed experiences and emotional pain often manifest in anxiety and depressive symptoms, unwanted behaviors, and unhealthy ways of relating to other. I understand as symptoms pointing to greater meaning that would benefit from exploring and processing. Another passion I have is supporting individuals as they process, grieve, and heal from challenging and traumatic events, such as abuse, death, accidents, transitions, and loss.
Education and Licenses:
I currently hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as well as a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, with advanced training/certificates in Psychodynamic theory, organizational consultation, and trauma recovery. Additionally, I completed a two-year post-graduate training and received a certification in Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, which is the psychological theory I draw upon in therapy.
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas (license no. 38726).
I am a member of PSYPACT (APIT no. 13467), which allows me to provide virtual therapy to individuals who live in the following states.
